Andy Middleton Quartet (UK/POL/CZ)
The Andy Middleton Quartet presents original compositions that blend world music and European influences with the authentic, hard-swinging energy of contemporary New York City jazz.
Andy Middleton is one of the leading saxophonists and jazz composers living in Europe today. Described by Randy Brecker as “one of the strongest tenor and soprano saxophonists on the scene,” Middleton is a masterful improviser whose music ranges from fierce power to lyrical warmth, combining modern harmonic language with deep roots in the jazz tradition. His distinctive voice as a player, arranger, and composer has led to collaborations with jazz legends such as Ralph Towner, Kenny Wheeler, and Dave Holland, as well as performances and recordings with Billy Hart, Maria Schneider, Richie Beirach, Bob Mintzer, Lionel Hampton, John Abercrombie, and many others.
Piotr Wyleżoł, an award-winning Polish pianist and composer, has been hailed as “one of Europe’s most prodigiously talented pianists” (Jazz&Blues, London). A former child prodigy, he has released sixteen albums and worked with top jazz artists around the world. His acclaimed 2018 album Human Things became a landmark in the Polish Jazz series. In 2025, he was nominated for three Fryderyk Awards—Composer of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year—for his latest recording I Love Music, described as “another great album by this extraordinary artist.”
Alan Jones, a dynamic and deeply expressive drummer, has toured extensively across Europe and North America with musicians such as Charlie Mariano, David Liebman, Jim Pepper, Bennie Wallace, Mose Allison, and Kenny Wheeler. He has recorded with Dave Holland, Ralph Towner, Airto Moreira, and his own Alan Jones Sextet, produced by Gino Vannelli.
Tomáš Baroš, one of the most in-demand bass players on the Czech and Slovak jazz scene, has been a member of the Gustav Brom Czech Radio Big Band and the Jazz Dock Orchestra. His versatility and groove have made him a trusted collaborator for artists including Benny Golson, Seamus Blake, Arturo Sandoval, Lizz Wright, New York Voices, George Mraz, and Miroslav Vitouš.
Together, these four outstanding musicians create a powerful and sophisticated sound that bridges continents and generations — a vibrant dialogue between European lyricism and the soulful pulse of modern jazz.
