Jana Drdácká - Flamenco Element Revived

Saturday 13/02/2027 from 19:00

The five-member group Flamenco Element Revived grew out of the Flamenco Element project, created by Stanko Kohútek and Jana Drdácká for the National Theatre Brno in 2011. It was there that they also met the band’s other members: Václav Greif, Pavel Križovenský and Michael Cába.

Jana Drdácká has been active as a flamenco dancer on the Czech and Slovak scene since 2001. Her dance journey led from Moravian folk dance through tap, jazz dance, Afro styles, contemporary and Argentine dance to flamenco. She has created several dance productions, including A Dream of Božena, which premiered at Ponec Theatre in 2022. She initially performed with guitarist Daniel Gája in the group Arsa y Toma. After he moved to Spain, she began collaborating with guitarist Stanislav Kohútek, known as Morenito de Triana. Morenito de Triana learned flamenco guitar in Seville’s dance schools and on its streets. He cannot read music, but can play almost anything by ear. His rhythmic and melodic sensibility, along with his distinctive falsetas, also reveal his Slovak folk roots. Pianist Václav Greif brings his jazz experience together with a flair for improvisation and Afro-Cuban rhythms. In his piano arrangements, flamenco blends naturally with new musical approaches. Drummer and percussionist Michael Cába comes from a jazz background. Together with Václav, he brings Afro-Cuban rhythms and the distinctive sounds of the djembe and congas to flamenco palos. He has studied with George Nightingale, Yuvisney Aguilar Rojas and Calixto Ovideo. Pavel Križovenský studied flute with Josef Mokroš and František Malotín, and saxophone with Marcel Bárta, Dušan Čech, Matouš Kobylka and Ondřej Štveráček. He has played in various bands since the age of fourteen, including NOI, Ram Adonai, Wunderbar Band and Poletíme. He plays the transverse flute with Flamenco Element Revived. Guitarist Filip Zubák, known as El Cherry, will join the group as a guest. He is currently on a scholarship at the Cristina Heeren Foundation in Seville and collaborates with musicians and dancers across genres.
