Justin Hicks feat. Marvin Sewell & Kyle Miles (USA)
There is a quiet daring in the way Justin Hicks approaches a song. With a voice that wraps vulnerability in velvet and lyrics that hover between the personal and the mythic, Hicks doesn’t just make music—he builds worlds. He initiates meditations on becoming: prismatic, genre-defying portraits of a Black man moving through an America that often misunderstands itself.
Originally from the American Midwest, Justin carries in his work the sound of open spaces—fields and back porches, church basements and cracked city sidewalks. Rather than leaning on nostalgia, he invites the listener into something stranger and more beautiful: a soundscape where gospel meets art song, where folk harmonies shift into avant-garde textures, and where stories unfold like secrets told in confidence.
He draws on the storytelling traditions of artists like Marvin Gaye, Roberta Flack, James Taylor, and Jeff Buckley—artists who blurred the line between confession and performance. And yet, his approach feels entirely his own. He’s bringing his new album, Man Of Style, along with his remarkable trio.
