Krajina Ró

Founding member and bandleader of the legendary group Jablkoň, Michal Němec, surrounded himself with young musicians, and together they formed a new band called Krajina Ró. The initial impulse was Němec's meeting with composer and great guitar talent Tomáš Frolík. Two different worlds managed to come together quickly and soon they brought in two more members from Frolík's band, The BladderStones: the proven bassist Johnny Judl Jr. (who also plays in Jablkoň) and the great drummer Michael Nosek. Meanwhile, Němec's niece, distinctive singer and actress Anna Břenková, joined the band. It was the summer of 2019, and Krajina Ró began working on their first album. In Jámor studio, under the experienced production supervision of Ondřej Ježek, the band recorded eleven original compositions. The album was titled „Hotel Blázen“. It must be added that it came out right into lockdown, or rather, into a ban on everything possible. This slowed the new band down, but did not stop them; in the spring of 2023, Krajina Ró recorded another original album titled „Mlhoviny“. The second album came into being similarly to the first, but it's a few years more cohesive and substantial. Ondřej Ježek, moreover, showed that for a beautiful recording sound, you don't need to fly to America.

We probably wouldn't expect such a deep dive into the rock sound from him … the musicianship of the individual members of Krajina Ró is a separate experience. Tomas Frolik is one of the most creative guitarists in this country. Add to that a brilliant rhythm section ... the soothing alto mingles with the dark timbre of the male voice, and when they meet in a song as powerful as “The Holey Hour,” it's like streetlights lighting up in the autumn fog. Conversely, the singing in “Here I am,” or “Broccoli,” is a little frightening and irritating; here the beast awakens..." (Josef Vlček – Headliner).
