Le Čhavendar

The band Le Čhavendar draws on the rich tradition of top Romani musicians, which they expand with great energy and creativity by adding modern musical elements. Their work offers a unique blend of Romani folklore enriched with influences of jazz, samba, flamenco, salsa, and funk, resulting in a dynamic, colorful musical world full of rhythm and emotion. The band has been active on the music scene for nearly thirty years and has secured a firm place among the prominent figures of world music.

Their quality is evidenced by appearances at major festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad, including the Respect Festival, Prague Pride, and Khamoro. Internationally, the band has performed, for example, at the Thames Festival, one of the most visited cultural events in the United Kingdom. Le Čhavendar also perform on club stages. The band is the holder of the Zlíntalent music award for Best Original Work (2005), which contributed to the creation of a documentary about the group filmed by Czech Television. Le Čhavendar’s music unites tradition with a modern approach, bringing audiences a gripping concert experience full of virtuosity, spontaneity, and the joy of music.
