Lenka Nová

A singer with a distinctive velvety alto voice. She comes from Brno, where she began singing in local rock bands. She then spent 12 years as a member of the band Laura a její tygři, with whom she performed hundreds of concerts and released several albums. Since 2008, she has closely collaborated with lyricist Michal Horáček. Together, they recorded the albums Ohrožený druh, Český kalendář, and in 2016 Čtyřicítka, on which she is not only the performer but also the composer. Since 2012, she has pursued a solo career. She has released four solo albums: Nová deska (2003), Psí hodina (2012), Čtyřicítka (2016), and Dopisy (2020).

Lenka Nová will appear at Jazz Dock this time with a not-so-typical jazz ensemble. In addition to her longtime collaborator and outstanding guitarist Josef Štěpánek, and the excellent young jazz pianist Mikuláš Pokorný, she has also invited the Eve Quartet, a string ensemble. “We don’t perform with the Eve Quartet very often, which makes it all the more special for us. The ladies are fantastic musicians, and sharing the stage with them is always a deeply emotional experience for me. I’d love to share that feeling with the audience who regularly come to see us at Jazz Dock,” says Lenka Nová, inviting fans to the concert.
