Libor Šmoldas Organ Trio
Live Album Recording!
Libor Šmoldas Organ Trio is celebrating ten years of its existence this year and invites you to a unique musical experience. Over two August evenings, on the 18th and 19th, the trio will record a live album – and you can be part of it!
Libor Šmoldas, together with organist Jakub Zomer and drummer Daniel Šoltis, will perform mostly original compositions. Their music is rooted in the jazz tradition, drawing inspiration from 1960s blues, funk, and soul, while maintaining a fresh and contemporary sound. The band’s distinctive style is shaped by Libor’s guitar, Daniel Šoltis’s precise drumming, and above all the authentic Hammond B3 organ played by Jakub Zomer – an instrument that delights any music lover, yet is still rarely heard in local clubs. The trio has performed all over the world – from the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., to the Melbourne Recital Centre, and even at a festival in Yokohama. Although they tour internationally, their concerts in Prague have become truly legendary.
Libor Šmoldas (*1982) is one of the leading Czech jazz guitarists. His music has been heard in New York, Sydney, Beijing, London, Paris, and Melbourne. In the Czech Republic, he has played over two thousand concerts and appeared at major festivals such as Prague Spring, Brno Jazz Fest, and Struny podzimu. He has collaborated with renowned musicians including George Mraz, Jeff Ballard, and Sam Yahel, and has received numerous awards, including Best Jazz Composition of 2014 and a Czech Anděl Award for a jazz album with the Organic Quartet.
