Miroslav Hloucal Quartet
The Miroslav Hloucal Quartet presents an original repertoire shaped by all members of this distinctive jazz ensemble, complemented by carefully selected compositions from the world’s jazz legends. Trumpeter Miroslav Hloucal is joined by the rhythmically solid yet open interplay of bassist Tomáš Baroš, drummer Daniel Šoltis and pianist Jakub Tököly. The band moves at the intersection of modern mainstream and straight-ahead jazz, drawing clear inspiration from both the contemporary New York and European scenes. Their music is built on strong melodies, refined harmonic language, space for improvisation, and an energetic groove. Alongside original compositions, the program may also include inventive jazz arrangements of folk motifs, seamlessly integrated into a modern jazz context.
All four musicians rank among the leading figures of the Czech jazz scene and regularly collaborate with prominent artists at home and abroad. The result is a tight, contemporary-sounding quartet with a clear artistic vision and a distinctive group sound.
