Noah Derksen (CAN)
Noah Derksen is one of Canada’s most distinctive voices — a singer-songwriter whose luminous blend of folk, country, and indie defies easy categorization.
Noah writes songs the way some people keep journals — honestly, tenderly, and with a curiosity for the way people move through the world. Moving between Winnipeg, Montreal, Nashville, and life on the road, he’s a wanderer with his feet on the ground and his head in the sky, always listening closely to the stories unfolding around him. His fourth album, Mercy on the Skyline (May 2026 via AWAL), is a luminous and reflective collection of songs about healing, self-discovery, and finding quiet strength. These songs come from the motion of everyday life — packing up boxes, riding the bus, chatting up strangers, driving away from a city (and a love) for the last time. In Noah’s hands, even the small details flicker with meaning, pointing toward the mercy waiting just over the horizon. Warmly suspended between folk, country, and indie, Noah’s music is fearless in its sincerity. His voice carries both intimacy and reach — the kind of voice that feels like it knows you, and sings for you. “Life is about being in community,” Noah says, “and I want my music to be a reflection of that.” Mercy on the Skyline embodies this spirit, recorded live in a room with a backbone of Winnipeg’s finest musicians and joined by some of Noah's longtime musical heroes — Lori McKenna, May Erlewine, and FONTINE.
