Scott Kinsey Group - Thought Distortions (USA)

The Scott Kinsey Group brings together five distinctive voices in contemporary electric jazz: keyboardist Scott Kinsey, guitarist Max Light, bassist Hadrien Feraud, drummer Gergo Borlai and vocalist Mer Sal. The group will perform music from Kinsey’s new album, Thought Distortions, along with selected compositions from his catalog and the music of Joe Zawinul and Weather Report. Built around deep grooves, electronic textures, spontaneous interaction and open improvisation, the performances connect the legacy of electric jazz with a contemporary and forward-looking sound. Physical copies of Thought Distortions will be available exclusively at the concerts on this tour, ahead of the album’s wider public release. During November, these shows will be the only place to purchase the new album.

Nir Felder has performed and recorded with artists including Esperanza Spalding, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jack DeJohnette, and Meshell Ndegeocello. Frederico Heliodoro has collaborated with Milton Nascimento, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pedro Martins, and Louis Cole. Gergo Borlai has performed with artists including Nguyen Lee, Frank Gambale, and Gary Willis. Mer Sal contributes vocals and sonic layering, expanding the group’s dynamic range and atmospheric depth. Scott Kinsey is known for his work with Tribal Tech, Joe Zawinul, his own projects, and film scores including Ocean’s 11 and Analyze That.
