Skip Wilkins, an American jazz pianist and composer, grew up in a family of musicians near Boston and has been performing solo for over forty years. Early in his career, he played with David Liebman, David Sanchez, Stanley Turrentine, Bobby Watson, Plas Johnson, Mark Murphy, Clark Terry, Conte Candoli, and Peter Erskine. Later, he played often with Phil Woods and recorded with him on his final big band CD release "New Celebration." He has released sixteen albums as a bandleader. Since 2007, he has been touring regularly in Europe, where he has found many listeners in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany. Skip Wilkins is a college professor at both Lafayette College (emeritus) and Moravian University, located in Pennsylvania. He teaches not only in the United States but also in Europe. Every year, he teaches at the Summer Jazz Workshop in Frýdlant and the Summer Choral Workshop in Lomnice u Tišnova. At Jazz Dock, he will perform with top-notch fellow musicians, delivering full-blooded mainstream jazz. The repertoire will include original compositions as well as some arrangements of standards.
